Teaching Duties:
Dr. Burk teaches two classes in the ANSC curriculum and oversees the donations and uses of the horses at the Campus Farm. She co-advises the 70 + member University of Maryland Equestrian Club with IAA faculty member Erin Petersen. Dr. Ordakowski-Burk advises 17 ANSC undergraduates, and co-advises one PhD student.ANSC 232 Horse Management
An introductory course in horse management for students who intend to
own, care for or ride horses. Topics such as horse identification,
behavior, training, health, feeding, mare and stallion management,
equine business, law, insurance, and facility planning are covered.
ANSC 330 Equine Science
This course is designed for students who intend to be involved in the
care, management, and use of horses, and for those seeking graduate
education in equine science. Scientific principles of behavior, anatomy,
physiology, exercise, nutrition, reproduction, growth, and health and
disease are emphasized.
