Goals of the Extension Programs

The mission of the poultry extension programs is to provide the poultry industry with timely and scientifically accurate information that can be used as tools to aid in maintaining profitable and sustainable production systems. Sustainable systems refer to commercial poultry production that is profitable while responsible with the environment and with the welfare of the animals. Our applied research programs address these issues by designing nutrition programs that maximize animal performance while minimize waste into the environment, or developing environmental enrichment techniques and management practices that help to address behavioral and animal welfare issues. Results of our research are disseminated in our newsletter “Poultry Perspectives”, bulletins, seminars and other educational programs.
